BIS Language in Focus: Portuguese

This half-term the language in focus is Portuguese! Portuguese is the official language of Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Angola and Sao Tome and Principe. It is also spoken widely in East Timor, Equatorial Guinea and Macau in China. In total, Portuguese is spoken as a first language by around 215 million people, and around 260 million people speak it in total! This makes Portuguese the sixth largest natively spoken language in the world, and the tenth most spoken language overall. You can visit this website to find out more!
