Malay

This half-term the language in focus is Malay! Malay is the official language of Malaysia and Brunei, and it is also spoken widely in Singapore. As well as this it is closely related to Indonesian, and it is even spoken in some southern areas of the Philippines. In total, it is the first language of just over 30 million people, and it is spoken as a second language by around 280 million people!

We've had such a great time learning Malay from some of our Malaysian experts from year 3 and 4. They helped us make a fantastic video too, so that you can practise speaking some Malay at home.
